The Central Java Food Security Body (BKP) urged more regencies to disburse funds to stabilize the price of un-husked rice, which fell during the March-April harvest period.
The BKP reported that 14 out of a total 23 regencies in the province have yet to disburse funds to buy rice from farmers.
“We hope the regencies will soon disburse the funds, because some areas have begun their grand harvests,” BKP head Gayatri Indah Cahyani said, as quoted by

The provincial administration has allocated Rp 50 billion (US$4.15 million) in advance financing for regencies to buy rice from farmers.
The regencies and municipalities have to return the money distributed to them after selling the rice.
Last week, the price of unhulled paddy dropped to between Rp 1,800 and 2,200, significantly lower than the government purchase price of Rp 2,400 per kilogram. (dre)
