Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said Tuesday that the government had no problem with overdue deabts from private companies as they will not affect the macro economy significantly.
“God willing [everything is secured]. We always monitor every development,” she said as quoted by state news agency Antara during a seminar on the integration of regional stock markets in Jakarta.
Mulyani said that every company has their own mechanism for handling their debts. She said that recent increases in the value of the rupiah and the Indonesian stock exchange index showed that Indonesian corporations were doing “not as bad as we'd imagined”.
“Although we should see their development after March,” she added.
Mulyani said the government has been taking careful steps to manage the macro economy and asked businessmen to do their part. (dre)
