Bali Police have named another suspect in the case of a double murder related to a car theft, after earlier arresting three suspects.

Businessman Yoseph Indrawan, 40, and his wife Maria Meiwati Atata, 37, were murdered when trying to sell their red Suzuki Swift hatchback on March 12.

General crimes chief detective Adj. Sr. Comr. Ahmad Nurwahid said a suspect's wife, identified only as S, was allegedly involved in the murder plot.

"She was also involved. She helped clean up the blood and clothes," he told The Jakarta Post in a very brief telephone conversation Monday.

He added he was aware that S, the wife of a suspect who died Saturday, could tell the media another version of her story because she was not yet in police custody.

However, he remained confident about the evidence that his detectives had managed to gather.

"She can say anything, but the police will work based on the fact and evidence," Nurwahid said without elaborating on why the suspect had not been arrested yet.

He quickly ended the conversation and did not reply to any subsequent text messages, after earlier saying he was in the middle of a meeting.

Local media reported that one of the suspects, I Nyoman Suyantara, 55, died shortly after he was nabbed in Petang, Badung regency, at dawn on Saturday.

Two other suspects are Andreas Bambang Sugiarto, 45, and his son Paulus Sugiarto, 20. They were arrested at different locations in Denpasar on Friday.

Suyantara was a relative of the Sugiartos.

Andreas was arrested after a CCTV recording showed him inside the murdered couple's red Suzuki Swift. The car was found on Jl. Bypass Ngurah Rai on Wednesday.

Suyantara complained of chest pains moments after being arrested and was taken to Trijata Hospital in Denpasar, where he died. His body was then transferred to Sanglah General Hospital for an autopsy.

Bali Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Gde Sugianyar said there were no signs of violence on Suyantara's body, which was brought home by his family on Sunday.

"We're still waiting for the autopsy results from the hospital," he said.

Five detectives have been questioned by the internal affairs division over Suyantara's death, but Sugianyar said he had yet to receive the reports.

Yoseph and Maria went missing after reportedly leaving their home in Kerobokan to meet a potential buyer for their car. They brought along their 18-month-old daughter.

The couple's bodies were found at the foot of a cliff in Pegayaman village in Buleleng regency on March 16.
