JAMBI: Attacks by sea pirates are expected to go on the rise in eastern Tanjungjabung regency waters, Jambi, from April to September, a navy command chief warned Monday.
"During other months, the west wind threatens the pirates' boats," the Navy's Jambi Base commander Sec. Lt. Irwanto said.
He added the Navy would increase its patrols around Tanjungjabung waters, especially around Nipah Panjang, Berhala and Simbur Naik islands to prevent incidents of piracy.
"We have the proper equipment and a complete fleet. We're also set to get a combat boat with a top speed of 45 knots this year," he said. - JP
