Prosecutors have called for Situbondo regent Situbondu Regent Ismunarso to be sentenced to 20 years prison for his alleged role in a corruption case which caused the state Rp 43.8 billion (US$ 3.65 million) in losses.

Head prosecutor Agus Salim said the defendant had misused state funds for personal benefits between 2005 and 2007.

“The defendant took Rp 1.1 billion for himself and distributed some amount of money to regent official I Nengah Suarnata and Juliningsih, and BNI 46 executives Darwin Siregar and Hamzar Bastian,” Agus said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
