Aceh grenade suspects arrested
Two men suspected of having been responsible for several grenade attacks in Aceh province were arrested in Langsa regency on Thursday and taken to the National Police headquarters in Jakarta, tempointeraktif.com reports.
According to tempointeraktif.com's source inside the police, the suspects, one of them identified as Irwan, had been involved in several incidents in the Bireun area, in which grenades had been used.
In the latest incident, the pair had allegedly thrown a grenade at the Langsa deputy regent's house, several days they after their proposal for a campaign funds for the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) Party had been rejected by him.
During the arrest, police had also confiscated a grenade, a rifle and 32 bullets from the suspects.
National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Abubakar Nataprawira confirmed the arrests but refused to give further details. (dre)
