DENPASAR: The Denpasar city administration continued its program to eliminate street dogs on Wednesday. The program was suspended in mid-March out of respect for a series of major Balinese Hindui religious festival.
"Some 25 dogs around Banjar Glogor Carik and Kampung Islam Kepaon in Pemogan village were eliminated. So far, the Denpasar administration has culled a total of 352 dogs, " Dewa Made Ngurah, head of the Denpasar Maritime and Animal Husbandry Agency, said.
The elimination program will be conducted three times a week as long as wild and stray dogs are still found in the southern part of Denpasar. Meanwhile, the city administration has also vaccinated 20,800 dogs for rabies. - JP
