Two die, one injured after PKS rally

PADANG: Two people died and a third was injured shortly after a Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) campaign held here Friday.
Dedi, 22, and Ronal, 15, died before reaching hospital. Eki, 22, is being treated in the intensive care until of the hospital.
According to Pariaman Police, the three were hit by tree branches as they rode in the back of an open truck after attending the campaign, at which PKS Chairman Hidayat Nurwahid spoke, in the town on Wednesday.
The three could not do much to protect themselves as they sat at the head of the truck, Adj. Comr. Zulfahmi of the traffic police said. "The two died before arriving at the hospital."
Chairman of the local PKS chapter Trinda Farhan Satria said that his party would pay compensation to relatives of the two deceased and cover the injured victim's medical costs.
He added that Hidayat has donated Rp 10 million (US$870) of his own to the three victims. - JP
