Jakarta police to deploy 20,860 men to safeguard pools

The Jakarta Police will deploy 20,860 officers to safeguard the legislative elections at 38,824 polling stations on Thursday, a spokesman said.

"The police personnel at the polling stations will cooperate with various parties related to the election," police spokesperson Adj. Sr. Comr. Chryshnanda said as quoted by state news agency Antara.

Chryshnanda said the police officers would be assisted by 34,040 members of mass protection agency (Linmas).

He said there were 1,920 polling stations in Central Jakarta, 2,991 in North Jakarta, 3.475 in West Jakarta, 4.982 in South Jakarta, and 3.436 in East Jakarta, 31 in Tanjung Priok port area, 61 in Seribu Islands, 3.436 in Tangerang city, 4.724 in Tangerang disttrict, 5.031 in Bekasi city, 3.856 in Bekasi district, 3.578 in Depok, and 10 ballot stations in Soekarno Hatta airport.
