Busway starts late on voting day

The Transajakarta busway will start serving Jakarta residents at 10 a.m., later than the usual 5 a.m., to give its employees a chance to go to polling booths for the legislative elections this Thursday.

“The delay is to allow our employees to vote,” said Gunardjo, operations manager of the Transjakarta busway management body (BLU), as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

Polling booths open between 7 a.m. and 12 noon on voting day. The BLU has given its employees two hours to cast their votes.

Gunardjo said he hoped the late start would not inconvenience busway users, as voting day had been named a public holiday. (dre)
