Police in Jayapura, Papua, have searched residences in Waena and Abepura, following an early Wednesday attack on a police station in the provincial capital that led to a clash in which one of the attackers was killed.
Local residents decided not to leave their homes after the incident.
During the search, police found 10 bombs and arrested 14 people for questioning.
Papua Police chief Insp. Gen. Bagus Ekodanto said the attack, which involved 80 suspected separatists, was aimed at derailing the elections.
“A group from the National Committee of West Papua was involved,” he said.
Elsewhere, he said, rebels who wanted Papua to break away from Indonesia stabbed several motorcycle taxi drivers, and burned an oil depot and property at Cendrawasih State University, leaving five people dead. (dre)

Hmmmm, no mention of the 6 civilians including a 10 year old child killed by police in Papua, just about the poor police who got attacked by a coconut throwing Melanesian.
