Papua Police have named five suspects believed to be responsible for an attack on the Abepura Police station in Jayapura on Thursday, state news wire Antara has reported.
National Police chief Gen. Bambang Hendarso Danuri said Thursday police had shot dead one of the suspects and were still questioning six witnesses.
“Right now, we are asking for their clarification in the case. We'll see if they will be made suspects too,” Bambang said.
He added police had yet to find any link between the attack and the separatist movement in the province.
“To prevent similar incidents recurring, we have asked for more personnel from Kendari to join those from Papua,” he said. (ewd)
