DENPASAR: The Bali Elections Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) announced Friday that it has received nine reports about possible money politics practices from residents in six regencies. The practices allegedly took place one day prior to the Thursday's legislative elections.
Three reports came from Buleleng, two reports from Karangasem, and one report from Tabanan, Jembrana, Badung and Gianyar regencies, respectively.
"The amount of money given to voters ranged from Rp 20,000 (US$1.76) to Rp 120,000 placed in an envelope alongside the legislative candidates' name cards," head of Bali Panwaslu I Wayan Juana said.
Eight of the name cards found are belonged to male legislative candidates.
"The only woman candidate (who presumably conducted money politics) was in Tabanan."
Juana refused to comment on the candidates affiliations. - JP
