A Japanese official says that a meeting of the foreign ministers of China, South Korea and Japan was canceled because anti-government protesters blocked access to the meeting site.
Thousands of protesters who want to unseat the Thai prime minister have massed at the site of a weekend summit of Asian leaders at this beachside town of Pattaya southeast of Bangkok.
The Japanese Foreign Ministry's press secretary said Friday that the "trilateral breakfast was canceled because of the protesters."
It wasn't immediately clear how many demonstrators were gathered at the Dusit Thani Hotel, where the meeting was to take place.
