MEDAN: More than 9,000 students from private universities in North Sumatra and Aceh will receive scholarships, worth a total Rp 24.35 billion, from local administrations.
Zainuddin, a senior education official in North Sumatra, said Friday in the capital city Medan that scholarship recipients will receive between Rp 900,000 and Rp 1.2 million each per year to continue their studies in higher education institutions.
They are required to gain a cumulative achievement index of at least 2.75 to undergo the selection process for a scholarship, he said to Antara news agency. The selection process will involve students across at least 233 private universities in both North Sumatra and Aceh provinces. - JP
