KUPANG: The results of vote counting in East Nusa Tenggara would reach the provincial general election commission (KPUD) late, because vote counting was suspended to allow for Easter celebrations there over the weekend.

Late on Thursday, only 30 percent of 12,488 polling stations had completed vote counts, while because most poll workers had gone to church.

East Nusa Tenggara KPUD chairman Djidon said his office had asked all polling bodies in the region which had suspended the counting, to resume work early on Monday so that results could reach the KPUD that night.

The legislative election in East Flores and Lembata would be held on April 14 since the majority of the population would also be involved in Easter celebrations. - JP
