DENPASAR: Denpasar Agriculture Agency head Gede Ambara Putra said the city's rice paddies still displayed a high productivity rate, producing more than 6,400 kilograms of rice per hectare of paddy.
He added Denpasar currently had 5,085 hectares of rice paddies, which was an increase from last year's 4,915 hectares.
"We still have high producti-vity, which is never less than 6,000 kilograms per hectare. We will maintain such an achievement, while minimizing the conversion of rice paddies," he said.
Denpasar's policy on agriculture will gradually change to urban agriculture, which is focused on production creativity and innovation as well as field equipment, he added. - JP
