JAKARTA: Starting Monday, April 20, Jl. Pos Kota and Jl. Kali Besar Timur III in Kota, West Jakarta, will be closed to motorists, an official said Friday.
M. Tauchid, the head of the city transportation agency, said the measure was part of the city's plan to reorganize traffic in the Old Town area.
He said the agency hoped motorists would adapt to the new rule aimed at creating a friendlier atmosphere in the Old Town, as quoted kompas.com.
Only those driving toward the museum and the immigration office would be allowed to use the southern end of both roads, he said.
The traffic from Jl. Kopi or Gedong Panjang heading to Kota Train Station or Glodok will be directed to the northern part of Jl. Kali Besar Timur III, then to Jl. Kemukus and Jl. Ketumbar. - JP
