JAKARTA: Governor Fauzi Bowo said Sunday he would work at district offices twice a week starting May, to get closer to the public.
"If the leader doesn't want to listen to the people any more, then they are no longer needed," he said as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
Fauzi worked from district offices during his years as deputy governor in the Sutiyoso period.
"I will make more time to have dialogues with the people, get more insight, contribute more input, and visit them directly," Fauzi said during his visit to communities in Jatinegara, East Jakarta.
"The governor's schedule to work from district offices will be tentative and conform to activities in the five municipalities in Jakarta," said Fajar Panjaitan, assistant to the city administration.
In a dialogue with a Jatinegara community unit, residents asked the governor to build a public park for the children. The governor promised the city would buy the land for the park. - JP
