The Indonesian Reading Forum (FIM) will hold a festival here from this Thursday until May 17, in observance of World Book Day.
A series of events are set to take place during the World Book Day festival, including exhibitions, workshops, discussions, art and culture performances and community gatherings.
Most of these events will be held on Saturdays and Sundays at the Bank Mandiri Museum in the Jakarta Old Town area, festival director Dessy Sekar Astina said on Tuesday.
"Besides the weekend events, we will also organize the 'World Book Day Goes to School' program from April 24 to May 15 at 26 schools in Greater Jakarta and Bandung," Dessy said.
There will also be an exhibition of literacy posters, running from April 23 to May 11 at the museum's art center.
World Book Day falls on April 23, and has been celebrated in Indonesia since 2006.
This year's festival, themed "Reading for Love", is aiming at campaigning reading interests within families by spending 15 minutes reading together.
