BOGOR: West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan has told all regional heads and employees to no longer accept banquet invitations from investors because the fund could be used to pay workers' salaries.

"Administration employees should be more careful. It's no longer necessary to accept banquet invitations from investors because the cost could be included inthe company's production cost,"he said.

"Let's say the banquet costs Rp 2 million. This amount can be use to pay a worker's salary for two months, according to the minimum wage.

"It's better for the investors to simply visit the regional administration offices if they have businessto do."

Ahmad was speaking Tuesday on the sidelines of a ceremony to launch the Bogor regency administration's Integrated Licensing Office (KPPT). The office is aimed at improving public service to provide an easier and simpler service.

It is expected the office will provide a more accountable and transparent issuance of licenses and permits, reduce the number of licenses and permits required, and work faster and cheaper.

"I hope Bogor regency gets this year's award for licensing offices. It will be a very special present as Bogor is the most populous regency in Indonesia, with 4.4 million people," he said.

In 2008, the award went to the Cimahi municipal licensing office, which neighbors the provincial capital Bandung. - JP
