The government has relaunched the "Love Indonesia" (Cinta Indonesia) program to induce people to use more Indonesian-made products.

"Many Indonesians, especially from the upper class, are reluctant to buy Indonesian products because they think the products are inferior to imported ones," Trade Minister Mari Eka Pangestu told journalists during the opening ceremony of the Inacraft exhibition at The Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Mari said that the program had been promoted for the last two decades, but it was stopped for no reason.

"This is a movement to appreciate Indonesian products as able compete with imported products," she said.

The trade ministry will support this program, in cooperation with other ministries, and several state-owned enterprises. (naf)
