The
Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) has accused the General
Elections Commission (KPU) of manipulating the total number of daily
vote recapitulation results.
The accusation was made Wednesday after a campaign team had uncovered a digital copy of KPU’s daily recapitulation.
"We
have received a CD this morning, which contains KPU's main server
real-time data. The data shows that KPU has actually listed more votes
than the ones shown to the public in their tabulation center," team
spokesperson Sudiatmiko Ariwibowo told a press conference at Menteng,
central Jakarta.
KPU's tabulation center listed only 13 million
votes upon the center's closing down on April 20. However, the data
received by the team shows that KPU's main server has listed around 49
million votes under that date.
The votes represent the result of the legislative elections, in which the Democratic Party leads.
"These
data show that KPU has lied to the public and if the commission has any
problem with these findings, then we challenge them to invite an
independent auditor to perform an audit on their server," the team's
deputy secretary general, Hasto Kristiyanto, said.
Hasto insisted the government to solve the issue before the presidential election in July.
"The
legislative elections are a fundamental part for the presidential
elections and any problems that took place during the legislative stage
will cause a serious problem in the presidential," he said.
Another
member of the team, Arief Wibowo, said that data in the compact disc
was the second authentic proof on the possibility of manipulations
during the elections. The first proof was a list of short messages
between "prominent figures" on the manipulations, Arief said. (hdt)
