The International Monetary Fund's (IMF) global growth projection of minus 1.3 percent this year is "still within (the expected) range", and Indonesia's economy can still expand as targeted, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati says.
"It (the projection) is still within our range. It is not surprising, only confirming that 2009 will be a difficult year," she said Thursday.
IMF just slashed its global growth forecast from 0.5 percent in January to minus 1.3 percent.
The IMF's projection shows that economic growth engine will have a contraction this year, she added.
But Indonesia's economy can still expand between 4 percent and 4.5 percent this year as targeted, depending on the government's policy response.
"Now how our policy response will become more important," said Mulyani.
