Antigraft body questions MPs over bribery scandals

JAKARTA: Four lawmakers were questioned Friday by the Corruption Eradication Comission (KPK) about their alleged roles in two separate graft scandals.

Azwar Chesputra, Sujud Sirajuddin and Fachri Andi Leluasa faced questioning over a scandal related to the conversion of protected forest areas for the Tanjung Api-Api seaport project in South Sumatra.

Former South Sumatra gover-nor Syahrial Usman has also been named a suspect in this investigation.

KPK spokesman Johan Budi said Friday his office had questioned another lawmaker, Emir Moeis, about his involvement in a separate case connected to the development of harbor areas in eastern Indonesia.

Emir was summoned for questioning related to the same case on Apr. 14, 2009.

This case saw dismissed law-maker Abdul Hadi Djamal detained as a suspect, along with Transportation Ministry official Darmawati Dahero and businessman Hontjo Kurniawan. - JP
