fter mesmerizing more than 20,000 people at Fort Canning Park with its 2007 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT) is now inviting you to enjoy another delightful al-fresco theater experience of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing from May 7 to 31 this year.

Taking place in the same park, the classic play stars Adrian Pang, Jason Chan, Michael Corbidge, Wendy Kweh and Julie Wee under the direction of London-based Edward Dick. Having recently directed A Midsummer Night's Dream for the Sydney Theatre Company and Romeo and Juliet for Shakespeare's Globe, Dick was also behind the recent critically acclaimed production of 'Tis Pity She's A Whore at the Southwark Playhouse.

Written early in Shakespeare's career, Much Ado About Nothing is a romantic comedy set in Messina, Sicily, where some war-weary soldiers return and ignite a battle of love. At the rich Leonato's house, Claudio, a handsome soldier, develops a burning love for young and beautiful Hero. While the lovebirds are busy preparing to walk down the aisle, Beatrice and Benedick are busy scorning each other until they end up realizing their true feelings.

Making the performance with Singaporean actors surely is an interesting experience of its own for Edward Dick the director. "I've loved working with them. They're hard working, intelligent and very funny indeed. I hope we've been able to see the play through Singaporean eyes that it becomes sensible and funny for them," said admitted Dick.
