BEKASI: A cash vault containing three boxes from a Bank Central Asia ATM was found empty on Jl. Perjuangan in North Bekasi on Saturday morning.
Bekasi Police investigated and suspect the vault came from a machine in Jombang, Tangerang, kompas.com reported.
Separately, Bekasi Police found another vault belonging to Bank Mandiri in an empty minivan that appeared to have been involved in an accident 32 kilometers from the Cikampek toll road.
The police took the vault to the headquarters, and witnessed by lawyers from Bank Mandiri and insurance company officials, opened the five boxes inside the vault. Out of five, only one was empty.
The total cash found in the boxes was Rp 280.4 million. Bank Mandiri officials said the vault contained Rp 400 million and according to transaction records, 30 percent of the money had been withdrawn, so they concluded the none of money in the vault had been stolen.
The minivan was suspected to be one of two cars used to rob the ATM in Kota Banjar, West Java. The car hit a truck and crushed. The robbers apparently deserted that car. - JP
