The government has so far sold Rp 64.1 trillion of bonds this year, or 117.14 percent of the sales target, Finance Ministry director general of budget management Herry Purnomo said Tuesday.
"It has surpassed the target, not including (the recently issued) global sukuk," he said, adding that the ministry was front-loading the bonds to plug the deficit as early as possible.
The 2009 budget deficit stands at Rp 139.5 trillion, or 2.5 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP).
Also on Tuesday, the government sold Rp 2 trillion of bonds from Rp 7.75 trillion offered.
