The general election commission (KPUD) has started to update the province's voting lists for the coming presidential election in July.
Head of KPUD I Made Gede Ray Misno explained a team comprising of 149 officials will start distributing temporary voting forms. He admitted during the last legislative elections many people failed to vote because they were not registered as eligible voters.
Misno also acknowledged the voting lists included names of toddlers and dead people.
"We will be knocking door to door to gather the residents' data. I am sure this is an effective and accurate way to register the right voters and to eliminate any discrepancies."
During the last legislative electiond, there were about 16,000 people who could not vote because they were not included on the voting list.
There were 391,878 voters registered with the KPUD in the recent legislative elections.
The new registration will start from May 10 through May 24. - JP
