ENPASAR: The Bali Police drug division arrested two Swedish citizens for allegedly possessing marijuana in the form of cigarettes when they stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel in Kuta, Badung regency.
Although the arrest was made on April 24, police only made a public announcent Friday.
Head of drug division Sr. Comr. Kokot Indarto said the suspects, Kjell Avald Holst, 25, and Karl John Bronell, 26, told police they spent the first week in Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara, and bought 20 marijuana cigarettes from a stranger in Kuta beach.
The two left Lombok the next week for another vacation in Bali. The police found a box containing 16 marijuana cigarettes and a half cigarette inside a black laptop bag.
"They said they bought the cigarettes for Rp 400,000 (US$36.7)," Kokot told reporters.
