The government recorded the highest monthly tax revenues so
far this year in April, at Rp 58.7 trillion (US$5.6 billion), a sign that the projected
state revenue for 2009 is still achievable, a ministry official says.
"April's tax revenues were very high. We are still optimistic about the projected
state revenue for this year," Finance Ministry fiscal policy head Anggito
Abimanyu said Thursday.
Tax revenues account for about 70 percent of total state revenue. As of March
31, the state revenue from taxation - including customs and excise duty -
reached Rp 133.2 trillion.
The government expects to collect Rp 661.8 trillion from taxation this year.
