Doctors in Sanglah Hospital in Bali where a Dutch tourist with flu symptoms was undergoing treatment said the patient’s condition was improving.
“Her temperature is 36.4 degree Celsius with normal breathing and heart rate,” Bali Health Agency head I Nyoman Sutedja told Antara state news agency Monday.
However, they are still intensively treating 32-year-old Michelle Van Dorssen in an isolation room.
She will continue to be treated for one to seven days, as stipulated by the World Health Organization.
Van Dorssen was admitted to the hospital on Sunday immediately after arriving on the island from Kuala Lumpur with flu-like symptoms.
Sutedja said doctors have yet to determine whether the patient had H1N1 flu.
“We are still awaiting the lab results from Jakarta."
Samples from Van Dorssen’s throat and nose were sent to the Health Ministry’s laboratory in Jakarta on Sunday.
The result is expected to be released within 48 hours. (adh)
