Anti-WOC activists named suspects

Police in Manado, North Sulawesi have named two activists from the Indonesian Forum for the Environment (Walhi) as suspects following a rally against the World Ocean Forum held in the city.
The activists were Walhi's national executive director Berry Nadian Forqan and Walhi's campaigner on water and food issues Erwin Usman.
Erwin told
tempointeraktif.com that both of them were charged with impeding and interfering with police officers in the exercise of their duties.
He said he and Berry were questioned from around 2:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Monday.
Both activists were arrested after the protest, which involved the local fishermen alliance and NGOs on Malalayang Beach, in Manado on Monday.
Erwin said the activists would face trial on Tuesday morning. (dre)
