DENPASAR: The Bali provincial administration has allocated Rp 70 billion (US$6.69 million) to assist state schools from elementary to senior high levels in the 2009/2010 academic year.
Provincial education agency head Ketut Wija said Monday private schools would be eligible for the fund if they abided by the existing regulations. The regulation stipulates any school receiving assistance funds should scrap tuition and registration fees for new students.
"This condition will be strictly applied to prevent any discrepancies in using the fund," Wija said.
The schools must also attach detailed proposals regarding the fund allocations. - JP
