Bank Indonesia (BI) senior deputy governor Miranda S. Goeltom said Tuesday she fully supported the appointment of tax office chief Darmin Nasution to replace her at BI.
"I feel safe and relieved. I fully support him, 100 percent," she said, adding she first met Darmin when she was 19 years old, studying at the School of Economics, University of Indonesia.
"His skills are undoubted. I've known him for 40 years."
She said Darmin should be able to answer the latest issues revolving around the financial sector.
On late Monday, lawmakers appointed Darmin as the new BI senior deputy governor after an eight-hour "fit-and-proper" test, beating Gunarni Soeworo, a commissioner at state-run Bank Mandiri.
