Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) officials have on Tuesday denied Megawati's involvement in PT RNI graft case as earlier mentioned by former company director during a hearing.

Earlier, defendant Ranendra Dangin, former finance director at PT RNI, had testified before a corruption hearing that Mega had received Rp 500 million from the company during the 2004 general election campaigning season.

Secretary General Pramono Anung said that it was impossible for Megawati to receive donation directly from companies.

"In fact, Megawati doesn't even know who the board of directors at that company are, so don't be naïve," he said.

Cahyo Kumolo, one of PDIP Central Board heads, said PDIP welcomed any verification attempt on where and to whom the money had flowed.

"We are ready to verify the statement at any time needed by the court. PDIP's 2004 financial report is already audited and so far there is no irregularities found thus we don't have any problem being verified by the court," he told journalists Tuesday.

He added that the PDIP did not have to assemble a group of lawyers to respond to Dangin's testimony.

"We respect the legal process currently underway but we will prepare no lawyers for this," he said.
