Lawmakers halted a hearing Thursday with the Finance Ministry and Bank Indonesia (BI) as BI governor Boediono was not present.
"Considering the importance of this meeting, the presence of the BI governor was crucial. Therefore, we will adjust the hearing according to Boediono's schedule," said Hafiz Zawawi, the chairman of the House of Representatives' commission XI overseeing financial affairs.
Lawmakers said Boediono's absence was partly related to his nomination as vice presidential candidate to Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
The hearing was aimed to discuss the still-high bank lending rates despite BI cutting its rate by 225 basis points this year.
BI senior deputy governor Miranda S. Goeltom said she respected the commission's decision.
"We respect the lawmakers' opinions as you have invited us here. I, as a BI representative, am ready to be summoned anytime."
