MANADO: Indonesia and China have signed an agreement to establish the Indonesia-China Center for Ocean and Climate (ICCOC), in an attempt to boost marine science and technology research.
During a press conference on the sidelines of the World Ocean Conference (WOC) here Wednesday, Marine and Fisheries Research Agency head Gellwyn Yusuf said the center's aim was to promote development and cooperation in marine science and technology.
"We aim to advance marine scientific research and contribute to the protection of the marine environment, as well as the sustainable use of marine re-sources," he said.
He added the establishment of the center was a way to boost bilateral agreements on oceans and climate. - JP
