The Democratic Party and its 22 coalition partners signed what they called a "coalition contract" in Cikeas, West Java, on Saturday.

The contract, says Democratic Party deputy chairman Anas Urbaningrum, represents cooperation ties between the parties.

Refusing to divulge the details of the contract, Anas said its substance was the parties' work plan for the next five years.

"This is what SBY [President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono] has mentioned as the platform and policy direction. We will share this with the public in detail during campaigning," Anas told reporters after the enrollment of Yudhoyono and central bank governor Boediono as the Democratic Party's presidential and vice presidential candidates with the General Elections Commission (KPU).

He said 23 members of the coalition had not just agreed on the political platform of Yudhoyono and Boediono, but also agreed to support the pair.

"Their political support is evident today with their enrolling of the candidacy of the pair to the KPU," Anas added.

The four main parties supporting the coalition are the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), the National Mandate Party (PAN), the United Development Party (PPP) and the National Awakening Party (PKB).

The Chairman of these parties, except that of the PAN, were all present at the enrollment ceremony.

Democratic Party secretary-general Marzuki Alie said PAN secretary-general Zulkifli Hasan signed the coalition contract in the absence of PAN chairman Soetrisno Bachir.

Denying there was an internal rift within his party, Zulkifli said Soetrisno would soon sign the coalition, too.

Smaller parties joining the "big coalition" include the Crescent Star Party (PBB), the Reform Star Party (PBR), the Prosperous Peace Party (PDS), and the Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (PKPI). They failed to get seats in the House of Representatives because of their failure to meet the 2.5 percent parliamentary threshold.

Marzuki said the coalition had formed a "success team" for the Yudhoyono-Boediono campaign, and State Secretary and PAN deputy chief patron Hatta Radjasa, has been appointed to head the team.
