The General Elections Commission (KPU) plans on Wednesday to announce the results of its verification of documents of presidential election candidates.

“We’re currently still verifying the documents and waiting for the results of the medical checkups. The overall results of the verifications will be announced Wednesday,” KPU member Andi Nurpati said Monday.

All candidates had submitted the 32 required documents on the KPU’s final day of candidate registration, May 16.

The KPU had given a team of doctors responsible for checking candidates’ health a two-day deadline to submit their test results.

“The doctors said they will submit the results tomorrow,” Andi said.

If documents submitted are incomplete or flawed, candidates will have time to amend them.

The period for document revision is from May 18 to May 22, while the revised results will be announced between May 22 and May 25. Announcement of the eligibility of candidates and their election numbers will be made between June 5 and June 9.

Candidates’ campaign period will commence June 13 and run through to July 4, followed by quiet period from July 5 to July 7. Election Day is currently scheduled for July 8.

Candidates’ campaign teams must coordinate with the KPU concerning the campaign schedule and presidential debate before June 12, Andi added.

“We have also prepared a ballot design for the presidential election.” (fmb)
