BANDUNG, West Java: Suspected H1N1 flu patient EK, 31, from Citarip, Bandung, tested negative for the virus, according to tests by the Health Ministry's Research and Development Agency.

The special infectious disease handling team from Bandung's Hasan Sadikin General Hospital (RSHS), where the suspect is being treated, said it received the test results Monday afternoon.

Team member Primal Soedjana said Monday the results were received from blood and phlegm samples taken after EK was named an H1N1 flu suspect last week.

She initially showed influenza-like symptoms and had returned one week earlier from the US, where there have been confirmed cases of the H1N1 flu.

Another patient, ES, 39, was sent home Friday after recovering and testing negative for the H1N1 flu.

E.K. has also been showing improved health, Primal said. - JP
