SURABAYA: State-owned insurance company PT Asuransi Kesehatan (Askes) is aiming to book Rp 5
SURABAYA: State-owned insurance company PT Asuransi Kesehatan (Askes) is aiming to book Rp 5.6 trillion (US$543.2 million) in insurance premiums this year, 15 percent up from the Rp 4.9 trillion recorded last year.
Askes president director I Gde Subawa said Monday the record would be made in light of the 10 percent salary increase for civil servants and newly registered civil servants this year.
"This target for an increase in insurance premiums will boost this year's net profit to Rp 1 trillion. a Rp 300 billion increase *from the record* in 2007," he said.
Subawa also said Askes planned to establish Askes centers in several state hospitals across the country later this year to provide better services to Askes subscribers, as well as select the best hospitals.
The hospitals, he said, must meet certain requirements, for example, being a reference hospital for patients, issuing prescriptions for medicine according to Askes' lists, and having a roster of capable doctors. - JP
