The Indonesian Air Force has started its investigation to find the cause of yesterday’s military cargo plane crash in Geplak village, Magetan, East Java, state news agency Antara reported.
“The Air Force has formed a special investigation team and has checked out the crash site in the village,” the Air Force's Head of Plane Safety and Performance First Marshal I Wayan Suwitra said Thursday.
He said the team had secured the location of the accident as one of the preliminary efforts to investigate the case.
“The investigation team consists of material, mission, media and management teams,” he said.
First Marshal Bambang Samoedra said the investigation team would coordinate with relevant officials in Magetan and would submit their report to the Air Force Chief of Staff.
“Officials at Iswahyudi Air Force Airport in Magetan only have authority to evacuate all victims and hand them over to their families,” Bambang said. (ewd)
