The Attorney General Office (AGO) is set to dispatch a special team to Switzerland to confiscate assets of former Bank Mandiri president director Eduardus Cornelis William Neloe stashed in the country due to his roles in a Rp 160 billion (US$15.5 million) corruption case.
Deputy of Attorney General Muchtar Arifin said on Wednesday that his team would go to Switzerland early next month and coordinate with all related parties in the country to bring back Neloe's assets stashed in the country.
“We previously gave Neloe 30 days to file an appeal against our decision to blockade all his accounts and assets. But up to now, he did not do it,” he told journalists at the AGO office in South Jakarta.
The court sentenced Neloe in 2007 to serve ten years in jail and fined him Rp 500 million for his proven role in misusing the bank’s credit to PT Cipta Graha Nusantara.
The AGO requested the Swiss government in 2005 to blockade all Neloe's assets, and following the court verdict, it informed the Swiss government that it would confiscate Neloe's assets.
