Corby suffers depression, moved to hospital

Australian Schapelle Leigh Corby, who is serving a 20-year sentence for drug smuggling, has been transferred to the international wing of the Sanglah Hospital in Bali where she is currently being treated for depression.

The 31-year-old was previously admitted to the police hospital from Kerobokan Prison last Friday suffering from deep despair and depression.

An officer said Corby requested the transfer to Sanglah.

“She wanted a more representative facility so we moved her to the international wing,” the officer said.

I feel so bad for her..... depressions must be horrible.....
I suggest she be imprisoned like any other (Indonesian) prisoner as well and not be given any preferential treatment anymore. Than, at least, her depression might be justified.

The fact is that she did not intentionally carry marijuana (a drug which is not dangerous or deadly according to numerous scientists and addiction specialists) into Indonesia.

No one smuggles marijuana into Indonesia. That just doesn't make sense. First of all, it is cheap here, so logically it is taken OUT of the country, not IN. It is taken out of Indonesia to Australia and Europe for sale where they make a lot of money from it.

Let us not forget that Kopassus grows ganja for themselves and people in Aceh still use it.

Marijuana should be decriminalized as it is not a dangerous drug.

Alcohol and tobacco are legal, but kill hundreds of thousands of Indonesians and cause them to get involved in heroin and methamphetamine which are the real drugs of addiction and death.

Marijuana is a soft drug.. not even dangerous like tobacco.
It is silly to have to go to jail for possessing a relatively safe drug... safer than most prescription drugs.

Breaks my heart to hear this. She drove us nuts screaming at her armed guards when we had our baby at the international wing. The amount of time she spends getting her nails done there at sanglah should be added to her sentence.

Wow, preferential treatment due to her being white. Although rumors abound of her having walk abouts during the day, and only having to stay at the prison during inspections and/or certain nights.

Wonder how more depressed and full of despair she would be if she got the death penalty when in truth the punishment for drug smuggling is death.
