Govt to continue disbursing 13th payment in July: Minister

The government is firm it will disburse the thirteenth payment for civil servants, as well as military and police officers, in July, despite resistance that the payments may be used for political campaigns."This year it will remain the same [as previous years]," finance minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said in an interview Thursday.
She said since 2006, the disbursement of the thirteenth payment had been set as July to take into consideration the need to fund children’s education, whose term usually began in August.
There has been political resistance to the disbursement of the thirteenth payment in July as the presidential election will be held in the same month.
