JAKARTA: Indonesia is on track to achieving some of its Millennium Development Goals that, among other outcomes, aim to halve the number of people living in poverty by 2015, a UN official said Thursday.
El-Mostafa Benlamlih, resident representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Jakarta, said Indonesia would be able to meet its MDG goals if all stakeholders set clear objectives and worked hard for the six years left until the deadline.
"The main goal is to close the gap ... in education and poverty, Indonesia is on the right track. Though there may be some other goals that we are going to miss," he told The Jakarta Post.
He said the biggest challenge accomplishing the goals was the fact many national institutions had unclear policies. -JP
