Manohara Odelia Pinot, an Indonesian model who was reported to have been kept and abused by her royal Malaysian husband, returned to Indonesia on Sunday, after a dramatic escape from a hotel in Singapore.
Speaking to a packed press conference in Jakarta, the Indonesian model of American descent, who speaks fluent English and French, recounted her movie-like escape: she had to hide out in a bathroom to buy time, refuse to be injected against her will and repeatedly press the emergency button in the elevator before the Singaporean police came to help her.
“They [the Singaporean police] brought me to a room. My mother arrived not long afterward and we embraced each other,” she said as quoted by Detik.com.
Daisy Fajarini told El-shinta radio she flew to Singapore after learning that her daughter was in the country.
The Foreign Ministry said the American Embassy was involved in the process of freeing Manohara. “The ministry coordinated with the United States Embassy because Manohara’s biological father is an American national which makes her an American national as well,” Teuku Faizasyah, the Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson told The Jakarta Post.

It really is a story blown out of proportions by the media...In Malaysia, there aren't even 1 story that covers this case, proving that this is no more than a family drama that can happen anywhere..
Imagine a 16/17 yr old girl forced to marry a royalty, and have to live with all those protocols and procedures of being a princess/queen..
Her mother shouldn't have asked her to marry the prince of Klantan..

As a Malaysian, yes do not hate us as a country but take that royalty to court for all I care. If you have serious been abused, then this must be made known to the public so they get no respect.
I think these are great news, Indonesians, Singaporeans and Americans working together as one.

As a Malaysian i am proud of Manohara for escaping from the rapist Kelantan Prince. Malaysians have started to reject the monarchy system and will look to change the constitution to remove them. The Sultans/Raja's are just abusing the system, raping, kidnapping and murdering innocent Malaysians and Indonesian. This travesty of justice must come to an end. Lets change the consitution. Send letters to your elected representatives and demand a vote to change the constitution.
Kidnapping and raping a 16 year girl is a crime.

i feel sorry that malaysian media failed miserably to perform their duty in a free civilized world: bringing the truth to their own people.

As a Malaysian, I'm glad she's alright.
But while this happen, I plead that Indonesians not to hate Malaysians. There are always rotten apples anywhere and please don't judge us by the worst among us. We're fighting the worst among us, just as you had fought earlier.
