News reports say North Korea has sent a message to its diplomatic missions abroad that Kim Jong Il's youngest son has been named as the communist regime's next leader.
The Hankook Ilbo and Dong-a Ilbo newspapers reported Tuesday that the regime sent the message right after the May 25 nuclear test and demanded diplomats pledge allegiance to Kim's 26-year-old third son, Jong Un.
The Hankook said the South's main spy agency briefed lawmakers on the North's move.
The spy agency said it cannot confirm the reports.
Who will eventually rule the nuclear-armed North has been the focus of intense media speculation since leader Kim, 67, reportedly suffered a stroke last summer.
