All five Jakarta municipalities have received Adipura environmental awards for being among the cleanest and greenest cities nationwide.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono announced Friday the winners of the Adipura awards to local administrations which succeeded in keeping their areas clean.
Five Jakarta municipalities were picked as the cleanest along with South Sumatra's Palembang, East Java's Surabaya, and Central Java's Semarang in the metropolitan category.
The President made the announcement during the World Environment Day commemoration ceremony, which was also attended by State Minister of the Environment Rachmat Witoelar, at the State Palace.
Yudhoyono also presented the Kalpataru awards that recognize contributions to environmental preservation to 12 recipients in four categories. (dre)
